Is the high staff, and low staff hand position based on the middle C? I'm just starting to learn how to play the piano. Moved on to this lesson only after having learned all the major triads from the previous lesson. I did not rush it. I spoke the fun names out loud while practicing. The lemon”ade” was especially helpful… excellent teaching! Thankyou!

I am really benefiting from your way of music theory (probably wrong word) teaching. i.e. how to read music. The lines and in between lines representing white notes on the piano. Already I am thinking the sharps and flats must have some other indicator. How to decode all the nomenclature and quickly associate it with the note underneath your fingers... It is very logical, digestible and enjoyable. Many thanks. I have a wee boost from a year learning piano as a kid and a few years as an adult learning guitar but I am so far devouring your lessons. Best to you for gifting this. You remind me of Justinguitars (Justin Sandercoe?) and his online courses all done for free. Bless you both.

Sometimes I like to descend this melodic minor scale as a "mirror" according to the patterns of tone/halftone. A B C D E F# G# A becomes A G F# E D C Bb A (which is the same melodic minor scale 1 tone down).

Last year I only touched a piano for a few moments for the first time in my life and yet I could make some nice sounds out of it because I regularly watch these videos and try to prepare myself for next three years when I actually buy one. Though, I'm still on my days of becoming a pro heavy metal electric guitarist 🤘 so no rush in that. But my point is, the lessons are so good in these series of videos that it helps me grasp the theories and understand the tones, and with the help of them I already know enough about playing a piano that I feel confident going for it. I can't imagine how much pleasure would it be to actually have progress through these videos using a piano. I love your videos, keep up the great work!

How could you tell whether a piece of music was in the scale of C Major or A Minor?

Very helpful review for me! I didn't realize until now that the natural minor of each scale always starts on the sixth note from the first note of the related major scale.
